Using Fulex Smokes
General Uses & Recommended ApplicationFulex Smokes are appropriate for use at all levels of infestation. Because the mode of action is contact and they are for the most part, adulticides, you may need up to three applications spread across the life cycle of the Insect Being Controlled. Fulex Nicotine Fumigator is a Federally Restricted Use product and is the most potent chemical -- yet is a botanical -- on the market today. Fulex Thiodan Insecticidal Smoke and Fulex DDVP Fumigator, while technically less potent than Nicotine, are each potent in their own right, providing thousands of growers excellent control over their floriculture crops year after year. Generally, you should use Fulex Smokes as follows:
Determining Coverage AreaThe following examples should be used in determining the correct number of cans of smoke to use when fumigating a standard greenhouse: General Volume Calculation
Square Feet x Average Ceiling Height = Cubic Volume
Total Volume = Vol. A + Vol. B
Volume A = W x H x L
How to Light Insecticidal SmokesAfter determining the volume of the greenhouse (see above), distribute cans evenly in the greenhouse aisles at least 10 feet from end walls. Remove caps from all cans and put an unlit sparkler in each can. Starting with the can farthest from the greenhouse exit, light the sparkler as shown (at handle end). It is recommended that you use a lighter or hand/held propane torch for quick lighting. Insert lighted sparkler deeply into the contents of the can. Proceed to next can, light the next sparkler and insert deeply into contents of can. Proceed to next can, etc. Exit greenhouse immediately after last can is lit and post the building.
